I've finished the three novels of the Jacinta Joseph trilogy about a tough NJ detective who goes back to the Caribbean island where she was born then feels compelled to clean up the local mafia-like families that run the island.
The Carib's Smile tells the story of Jacinta's return to St. Theresa, her involvement in solving four murders, and the confusion that follows as she and her whole family go into hiding to avoid being killed while pursuing the killers. It's a bit of a comedy, a bit of mystery, and a lot of culture shock.
The Judge's Wife is about the aftermath of the first book. Jacinta is now involved in a revolution led by the island's grandmothers. Great fun with lots of chaos.
The third book, The Women, Left, has to do with the outcome of the revolution. JJ and her friends turn around the island's economy while still kicking bad-guy butt
Thanks for reading,
